The Emersons Green 1st Scout Group was chosen as the local Sainsbury’s charity of the year.

SCOUTS in Emersons Green are the lucky beneficiaries of a store’s fundraising drive.

The Emersons Green 1st Scout Group was chosen as the local Sainsbury’s charity of the year.

Matthew Flint, duty manager at the Emersons Green store, is pictured handing over a cheque to Lucinda Clark from the scout group.

A total of £2,436 was raised by the store, which also purchased a shed for the scouts.

Nominations for next year’s charity can be placed in the nomination box at the front of the store until June 8.

Sainsbury’s has also recently supported the Resound  foodbank in Mangotsfield by asking shoppers to donate items.

Mr Flint said he was delighted the store was able to help.

“It’s thanks to our customers and colleagues we are able to hand over this cheque to Emersons Green 1st Scout Group and we wish them all the best for an exciting future.”

The scout group was set up by parents and residents early in 2013 after long waiting lists for other groups in the area.
