MORE than 100 children from Emersons Green Primary School were captivated by a storytelling session from author Sam Gayton.

It took place at Emersons Green Library, which had been transformed into a scene from his last book, His Royal Whiskers. Sam entertained the pupils with extracts from the tale before signing copies  of the book for the children.

He said: “It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be here. Growing up, my own library was a constant source of fuel for my imagination.”

Children from Emersons Green Primary said: “It was cool! He was very funny. He explained how to write stories and how he got his ideas.”  Their teacher, Miss Hazard, said: “Sam was absolutely amazing and the children were wildly engaged throughout. A real modern, funny story teller!”

Sam also visited Yate Library for a sessions with children from St Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Wellesley Primary School and Tyndale Primary School for more magical stories.
