CHRISTChurch CE VC Infant School in Downend is celebrating a double inspection success.

The school was visited by Ofsted and church inspection teams on consecutive days. Both rated it to be Good.

The Ofsted verdict from Her Majesty's Inspector Lorna Brackstone was that CCI had maintained the quality of education since it was judged as Good at the last inspection in 2012.

The SIAMs Inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodists schools) highlighted the positive impact of the school's distinctive Christian character and praised the special care taken by staff for each child.

Chair of governors Nick Richley said: “Having two major inspections taking place within a day of each other can be daunting but the team at Christ Church Infants responded to this brilliantly and the outcomes reflect the continued hard work and dedication of all the staff at the school.

“We are delighted that the Ofsted inspection recognises Christ Church Infants as a place where children can come and learn in a safe, caring and inspiring environment.

“ As a Christian school, the SIAMS inspection demonstrates that we are committed to ensuring Christian values are at the very heart of our culture and our children’s learning.”

Ms Brackstone's report said co-headteachers Anna Martin and Sarah Helm had worked in harmony to ensure that the school’s core values of being ‘caring, courageous and inspired’ have not been lost during a time of changes at the school.

"It has a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere, which makes it a happy place to learn. Pupils respond enthusiastically to the individual attention from each teacher, and this enables them to develop confidence and self-esteem," she said.

Mrs Martin said she was proud of the response of staff, children, governors and parents to the twin inspections.

"It was certainly a challenge finding out halfway through the SIAMs Inspection that the long-awaited Ofsted was happening the next day but the staff stepped up to the challenge brilliantly.

"This year has been a challenging one for the school with lots of change but every member of the staff team contributed and shone during the two inspections.  Both experiences were positive and we feel lucky to have had such success in very fair inspections.

"We pride ourselves on finding a balance between achieving high academic standards and all children making progress whilst having fun at school and  developing a love for learning. We are very proud of every one of our children and were so pleased they stayed true to themselves on the inspection days by behaving brilliantly and talking confidently to the inspectors whilst showing off their school.

"CCI is a very special place with a big heart and it feels great that this has been recognised."
