ST Mary’s Players are  presenting ‘All the World’s a Stage’ A musical tribute to William Shakespeare (1564-1616) in Staple Hill next month.
The group's autumn revue will be at Page Hall nightly from September 21-24. As a tribute to the 400th anniversary of the Bard's death, the players  will be performing songs from 21st century shows that are based on his plays.
You may be aware that West Side Story is based on Romeo & Juliet, but surprised to find that Lion King is based on Hamlet. Songs from these shows are included along with songs from Return to the Forbidden Planet (The Tempest), All Shook Up (Twelfth Night) and The Boys from Syracuse (Comedy of Errors). In addition there are songs from the late 60s/early 70s show Two Gentlemen of Verona and the hilarious new Broadway musical Something Rotten.
All tickets are £12 (including supper). Call  0845 519 9048 or visit the website  www.smpmtc.co.uk
