KARL Brown, a former pupil of Bromley Heath Junior School and Downend School, has been appointed in a new role to encourage people from disadvantaged backgrounds to take up a career in law.
The 41-year-old solicitor has been given the title of Social Mobility Ambassador for the Law Society of England and Wales.
In his new role Karl will seek to promote law and becoming a solicitor as a possible career for people from less privileged backgrounds.
He will serve in his new role alongside his job as a commercial property solicitor at national law firm Clarke Willmott LLP and also as a business fellow for UWE.
Karl, a former president of business group Bristol Junior Chamber, has been a leading business advocate in the region for promoting social mobility and the role business can play in this objective.
"I hope to show young and older people from disadvantaged circumstances that if you have talent and are willing to work hard then law is a possible career for you regardless of your background," he said.
