MORE than 400 children from several schools took part in a spectacular Christmas concert at the Colston Hall.

The annual event was directed by Tim Warren, Team Leader of Performance & Participation at  King’s Oak Academy.

Beacon Rise, Cadbury Heath, The Tynings, Two Mile Hill and Parkwall primary schools took part, performing a range of songs including Love Can Build a Bridge, Can’t Stop the Feeling, Love Yourself, The Camel Boogie Woogie and a medley of Christmas songs.

Ensembles including steel bands, a drum group, rock bands, and soloists were also featured.

Mr Warren said: “This concert is part of the continuing work between King’s Oak Academy and our partner primaries which covers many areas of the curriculum. The students, pupils and staff really enjoyed the day and worked really well together. They put on a fantastic performance thoroughly enjoyed by the audience, who also joined in”. A silver collection was made in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust, the chosen charity of King’s Oak music department.
