A GROUP of teachers from Stanbridge Primary School are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for their school library.

The team, which includes head Faye Bertham, four teachers and two sports coaches, will make their attempt on May 28.

Their effort begins at Fort William in Scotland, where they will scale Ben Nevis, before tackling Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in North Wales, all within 24 hours.

In total they will walk about 25 miles, climb about 10,000 feet and drive about 450 miles between the mountains.

The team have been training for the mission since the turn of the New Year and have already climbed the 1,955 ft Sugar Loaf in the Black Mountains near Abergavenny.

The idea for the challenge came from Lewis Fishlock, a sports coach at the school, after he climbed Ben Nevis before Christmas.

Mr Fishlock, head coach at Rodway Hill Tennis Club in Mangotsfield, was recently named Aegon Coach of the Year after helping raise participation levels at the club.
