Success for the early years team at Barley Close

Published on: 28 Feb 2016

THE nursery and reception classes at Barley Close Community Primary School have successfully achieved the Bristol Standard quality assurance mark.
The Bristol Standard helps early years settings, childminders and play settings to develop and improve the quality and effectiveness of their provision.
It is recognised nationally as beneficial, enabling practitioners to talk more knowledgeably about what they do, why they do it and the difference it is making for children and families in their care.
Head teacher Jo Williams said staff had worked very hard to gain the accreditation.
“Our nursery and reception classes, which were graded as Good in our last Ofsted, offer an amazing outside and inside provision. The children who attend the nursery also get to join in with the whole school in performances - preparing them fully for joining in school life in later years.” she said.
The nursery offers morning sessions for two-year olds. It provides half day sessions for three-year-olds – 8.45.11.45 or 12.30-3.30. Whole days – 8.45-3.30pm - are also available: this can be extended to 6pm with out of school club provision using extendable payable sessions.
