Sun shines brightly at Heathfest

BROMLEY Heath’s biggest community event – Heathfest – proved to be bigger and better than before with hundreds of families flocking to enjoy the sunny day.

Organisers of Heathfest – known fully as Bromley Heath Community Festival - spent many months planning the event to make sure there was something for everyone to enjoy, with pony rides and fun rides to live music and entertainment.

The festival, which sees hundreds of families visit each year, took place on Saturday July 9  from 1-6pm, also included stalls, local food and drinks, rides, games, face painting and of course a visit from Heathfest’s mascot Bromley Bear!

Claire Grieves, one of Heathfest’s organisers, said: “Once again we were overwhelmed with the support of local families who visited the festival. We would like to thank everyone who came along. It was a huge success and we were so lucky with the weather.

“Every year the committee try to make the festival bigger and better and this year it really was. All the performers were fantastic and the crowd loved them.

“We are now looking forward to next year’s Heathfest.”

During the festival this year’s John Laurie award was presented to Sally Green, the local Beavers leader and the boys gave a lovely tribute. Money was also raised for a local cancer awareness charity, It’s in the Bag, who support men with testicular cancer in the South West of England. The committee would also like to say a huge thank you to this year’s sponsors – M Coleman, BES Systems, PSJ Marquees, Raj and Cam at MS2, Wrigglypeeps pre-school, SNS Inflatables, AN Checker and Bromley Heath United FC. Thanks too to the marshalls for helping out.

The Heathfest is organised by a group of volunteer committee members who start planning next year’s big day in October. If you have any feedback or comments on this year’s Heathfest please email heathfest@gmail.com.
