TOTS from a Downend nursery spread a little sunshine when they visited a group of retired residents.

The children, from Sunbeams Day Nursery, sang songs with people living in Badminton Gardens, an extra care housing scheme run by Hanover Housing Association.

The 24 children, ranging in age from nine months to four years, shared the actions to songs such as Wheels on the Bus and Chick Chick Chicken whilst showing off the hats they had made as part of their Easter celebrations.

Residents talked to the children in their communal lounge and tucked into chocolate nest cakes that the children had made at nursery to share with them.

Some of the youngsters were joined by mums, other siblings, and even a grandparent.

The assistant manager of Badminton Gardens presented each child with a gift to take home.

Plans are being discussed to arrange for smaller groups of pre-school children to share activities such as story time with residents at Badminton Gardens in the near future.
