YOUNGSTERS from St Augustine’s Pre-School in Downend have been running rings around staff - but it’s all been for a great cause. The three and four-year-olds have been taking part in an obstacle race and have been busy collecting sponsorship donations.
The circuit, which included a mixture of climbing, running and jumping, was quite a challenge for their little legs but they managed it with aplomb.
Elaine Williams, pre-school manager, said: “We love to put this event on every year as the children and staff really enjoy the challenge.
“The children tried extremely hard and have done themselves proud, achieving over and above what we all thought.
“All the money collected will go into what were calling the ‘tidy up pre-school campaign’.”
Craig Davies, chairman of the pre-school’s committee, said the pre-school was going from strength to strength, having recently taken on two extra members of staff.
He said: “St. Augustine’s Pre-School has been around for many years and as it’s run on charitable donations, every single penny counts.
“Ongoing projects include work to the garden and play area at the rear, new window blinds and decorations, tables, chairs and sensory equipment for children who have special educational needs.
“On behalf of the staff and the committee, I would like to say a big thank for all the support shown by children and their parents for this event and others like it.”
