Village gets lifesaving device

RESIDENTS have raised £3,000 to install a defibrillator in Mangotsfield village.
The initiative was organised by members of the Charnfield Neighbourhood Watch who decided the device was needed after hearing a talk about how a speedy response to cardiac arrest was vital.
Members secured grants from local organisations including Mangotsfield Festival, Emersons Green Town Council and the Lions Club as well as raising funds themselves.
“We have had a superb response,” said chairman Sue Jefferies. “Mangotsfield School held a non-uniform day for us and raised a fantastic £600. It has taken us a while but we have achieved it - the defibrillator is permanently in place at the Salutation. Now we are going to undertake training to make sure we are not frightened to use it if the need should ever arise.”
