Wind group recruiting retired people

Published on: 02 Jan 2015

A WIND group is being restructured to cater for the needs of retired people and enable them to improve their playing skills.

Stage one of the project will be to recruit members who have had basic wind instrument tuition. That may be two or more years in a band-class or at school or lessons with a tutor.

After an appropriate period the group will move to stage two and will try to arrange daytime performances at residential homes or retired persons’ clubs.

The new group will be appended to Westerly Showband – Training, a mixed-aged group that has already run successfully for several years. The group meets every Thursday in Kingswood Library at 7.30; the new class starts on January 29.

Prospective members are invited to come along on January 22 for a preview.

All applications and enquiries to Chris Harris on 0117 956 1950 or email cgharris320@btinternet.com. The website is at www.westerlyshowband.com
