Your chance to bid for £250 community grant

A CARE provider is offering £250 for a community project in Downend that supports older people.
Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire, which is based in Chipping Sodbury, is inviting applications for its community grant scheme.
Last year, Bluebird Care gave grants to the Filton-based lunch club She 7, and to The Big Lunch in Chipping Sodbury.
Managing director Jack Whitfield said: “As well as providing care and companionship services to people living in their own homes, Bluebird Care is passionate about supporting community projects and initiatives.
“So many neighbourhoods thrive because of volunteers who work tirelessly to run community groups, host events and provide services that benefit others. Much of this work involves supporting older people who, without regular coffee mornings, day-trips or lunch clubs, would be left isolated at home.”
Mr Whitfield said the group that best demonstrated need for the funds would receive the grant. Support and advice will be provided by Bluebird Care to the successful initiative, which could be any kind of recreational activity that helped reduce isolation among older people.
