A GRAND auction and meal will take place in Friday May 19 to raise money for a team of young people from Christ Church who are preparing to work in Haven Home orphanage and school in India this summer.

Twelve young people and leaders will spend time at the home, which was founded by an Indian couple and is supported by many people in Downend, including parish councillor Martyn Poole, one of its main advocates and fundraisers.

The 16-day trip will also involve working with rural village projects in the Andhra Pradesh province, providing food, supplies and medical
education.

The group is raising money to fund a much-needed bore-well for one of these villages, which struggle to access clean drinking water.

Tickets for the auction of promises are available from Christ Church Parish Office or visit the website for more information www.igniteyouth-christchurchdownend.co.uk
