Youth hub opens

Members of the Christ Church Downend Congregation and invited guests celebrated the opening of the new Youth Hub facility at Christ Church recently. Over 200 people including a large group of teenagers gathered for a celebration lunch following the completion of the hub after 18 months of fundraising. The hub boasts a coffee bar, chill zone, office space and pool table.
Christ Church’s work with young people continues to expand and the hub will provide a base for various youth clubs, discussion groups and after school clubs for young people aged 10 plus.
Associate Minister Rev Paul Peterson commented; ‘The youth leaders’ team at Christ Church is passionate about seeing children and young people valued and resourced, so we’re thrilled to see the vision becoming a reality. At a time when funding for youth work is being cut , we are excited as we think about how this new facility will meet the needs of so many young people in the area in the years ahead.’
The work on the youth hub was carried out in conjunction with the replacement of the Parish Hall’s aging roof, with 50% of funding coming from grant bodies and the rest through the generosity of members of Christ Church.
