‘Bristol Rovers’ set sights on Wembley
BRISTOL Rovers might be having mixed fortunes on the pitch this season but a team of their representatives are on a winning streak.
Girls from Years 7 and 8 at Mangotsfield School could have the chance to play at Wembley after winning the EFL Girls Cup Area Final.
The girls earned the right to play as Rovers in the tournament after beating 13 other local schools in the first round. The Club Final winners played teams such as Exeter, Swansea and Forest Green Rovers in the group stages of the event at Cwmbran and got through to the knockout stage.
They defeated Bristol City on penalties in the semi final and beat Exeter 1-0 in the final to qualify for the regional final. Victory in that round will take them to the national final at the home of football in north west London.
