Boxer Ethan takes silver
HILLFIELDS boxer Ethan Moore has won a silver medal in the European schools boxing championships.
The championship, held over 10 days in Tbilisi, Georgia, saw the best school-aged boxers in Europe bid for the medals.
Ethan, 14, from Fishponds-based Downend Boxing Club, was captain of the 19-strong England team. He just missed out in the final to Armenian S Arakelyan.
Craig Turner, head coach at Downend Boxing Club, said: “Ethan was just quality throughout. His dedication that turned him into an international standard athlete was nothing short of outstanding. I thought the roof was going to come off at the Harry Crook Centre, as we watched the live stream from Georgia. He was simply superb.”
Dad Mark was equally thrilled: “It's a fantastic achievement to take home a silver medal. I’m so, so proud of my son," he said.
