Cleve triumph in final game at Paignton

Cleve triumph in decisive final game at Paignton

Paignton 33, Cleve 41

BOTH teams started the game needing a win, but Cleve showed the greater determination to ensure it was them who prospered. As early as the first minute, centre Shaq Ajuwa scored under the posts with fly half Geraint Lewis converting.

Paignton hit back and briefly took the lead after an interception on half way allowed them to make it to the line.

Their lead was shortlived though after skipper Sam Roach gave Cleve a 17-8 lead at the break.

Cleve capatalised on some sloppy Paignton defence with Tom Gollop and then Matt Lane adding to Cleve’s lead.

Paignton came back strongly but didn’t have enough to pull back the deficit ensuring Cleve retained their Tribute South West One status.
