Cow rescued after falling into slurry pit
FIREFIGHTERS spent almost three hours helping to rescue this cow, which fell into a slurry pit at a farm near Mangotsfield.
Crews from Kingswood and Bedminster fire station were called to the farm on Cattybrook Road shortly before 10pm on June 4.
They attached rescue harnesses known as strops to the cow and pulled it clear with help from the farmer’s tractor.
The cow was taken to safety and is believed to have been unharmed by the experience.
On arrival, firefighters used strops and equipment from the farmer to rescue the animal.
They then assisted the farmer in taking the cow to a safe place.
The rescue lasted until 12.45am. Picture courtesy of Avon Fire and Rescue Service
