A BRISTOL organisation set up to celebrate active women is calling on all grandmas, aunties, sisters, mums and daughters to dance through the decades to raise money for Sports Relief.
Bristol Girls Can wants as many females as possible to dust off their trainers and follow simple routines led by instructors to tunes from the seventies right through to current sounds.
The danceathon is open to any female regardless of age, ability, shape or size and it is up to you whether you choose to dance for one, two or three hours.
Fancy dress, including neon, glitter, sequins, wigs, tutus and leg warmers, is optional.
Claire Nichols, sport, play and funding officer at Bristol City Council, said: “There’s no better reason to dust off your trainers than to raise money for a great cause.
“This Girl Can has teamed up with Sport Relief to get women active and fundraising to help improve the lives of those in need. Fundraising is just like exercising. It’s not about how much you raise or how you do it, and it doesn’t matter whether you jiggle for one hour or three. What matters is you’re doing something and having fun.”
The Bristol Girls Can Danceathon takes place on Sunday March 20 at Hengrove Leisure Centre from 12.30pm. To sign up or find out more visit www.bristolgirlscandanceathon.eventbrite.co.uk.
Booking is essential as places are limited.
