Downend give Lashings a scare

DOWNEND Cricket Club ran the mighty Lashings close at the annual fixture at the WG Grace Ground, with the All Stars scraping a victory by just three runs.

DOWNEND Cricket Club ran the mighty Lashings close at the annual fixture at the WG Grace Ground, with the All Stars scraping a victory by just three runs.

The match featured famous internationals from India, West Indies, Pakistan, South Africa and England, among them Wasim Jaffur, Tino Best and John Emburey.

The Lashings team was managed by England’s David Smith and coached by the West Indies legend Gordon Greenidge and the match commentary was by the incomparable Henry Blofeld, aka Blowers from Test Match Special.

Downend Cricket Club is now looking forward to 2018, when it will mark its 125th anniversary with a series of special events.
