STAFF at Andrews Lettings and Estate Agents in Downend showed true Christmas spirit when they spent a day fundraising to help a boy who cannot walk.

Workers donned festive jumpers and held a raffle to raise money for five-year-old Jaye Cook.

Jaye, who was born 10 weeks prematurely, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 18 months old.

The Kingswood youngster, who has two sisters and a baby brother, has been accepted for a SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) operation at Frenchay Hospital to help him walk but the procedure costs £35,000.

Goodies up for grabs in the raffle included a hamper, toiletries, chocolates and day out tickets.

Shoppers were invited to pop in for coffee and mince pies.

Teresa Bird, lettings manager, said she hoped the raffle would raise more than £400.

She said: “Jaye’s wish to walk touched our hearts and we were glad to all get behind him to raise both money and awareness.”

Jaye’s fundraising campaign has also been supported by Christ Church, Downend which held events to support Jaye over the Christmas season.
