International dance chance delayed

July 01 2020

Yasmin Davis

A 12 year old Mangotsfield School pupil from Downend has been selected to be part of Team England in the Dance World Cup 2020.
However instead of being in Rome, Italy, to compete this July she will be keeping up her dance training at home, with her dream being put on hold for 12 months.
Yasmin Davis, a former pupil of Christchurch schools and VDance, will be representing her current school of dance in Winterbourne, REDDs, where she trains each week in all styles of dance.
It was in December 2019 that Yasmin, daughter of Karen Davis, who runs LTD (Love to Dance) found out that she had successfully been given a Team England place after auditioning against 3,000 dancers.
She was chosen to compete in the Street Dance category, her favourite gendre of dance and has been training hard on what she hopes will be a winning piece.
Yasmin said: “I am so excited to dance in the World Cup. I’m sad that Rome has been cancelled this year, but I’m also looking forward to finding out where it will be when everything is back to normal. My sister Belle has really helped me to get ready.”
Parents Karen and Matt, along with sister Belle are very proud of Yasmin being chosen to represent her country and look forward to cheering her on at the awaited venue in 2021.
