It’s a wonderful world

WE all rush about a lot these days – but now there's a chance to slow down and find peace and quiet in the heart of Downend.

WE all rush about a lot these days – but now there's a chance to slow down and find peace and quiet in the heart of Downend.

A trail called the “Wonder Walk” has been created to help people appreciate the beauty, history, and peace of the churchyard. You can borrow a trail map from the box by the gate near the car park and follow it to find five sites where through the use of senses you can explore, and reflect.

The trail has been designed for primary aged children and younger to use with their families, but adults can rediscover that sense of wonder as well.

Anita Dobson, family worker at the church, developed the trail with the help of Steve Powell who looks after the churchyard.

She said: “The trail taps into that ability that children have to stop and wonder at the world around us. Children aren’t in a hurry in the way that adults often are. They notice things. The 'Wonder Walk' will encourage you to stop and stare with them, and find spiritual encouragement.”

Families are invited to come and try the trail at any time , and to come again when the seasons change and there will be a new trail to explore.
