In October, a new directory is being launched and will be delivered to homes in the Bristol East and Keynsham areas. As well as the directory, offers an extensive website database of trades and services which helps consumers in the Bristol area.

 Event organiser Andrew Simmonds from the Great Western Round Table said the display would not be able to happen if not for Checkatrade.

 He said: “We are a charitable organisation so it is essential for us to gain corporate sponsorship in order to put on the kind of event the people of Bristol have come to expect.

 “It is fantastic that we have managed to secure sponsorship with Checkatrade and that they have been so generous; it means that this year the show will be bigger and better than ever as we have been able to up our spend on the fireworks.”

 The Downend Firework Show takes place at the King George V playing fields in Sutherland Avenue every year. Attracting thousands of visitors across the South West, the event is the largest of its kind in Bristol and raises vital money for local causes.

 As always, this year will feature musical entertainment compered by BBC Radio Bristol, a children’s firework display, rides, attractions, stalls and children’s entertainment.

 Bridget Barnes, head of advertising at said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Downend Firework Display which I believe does such fantastic work within the local community, raising money and putting on an exciting evening for everyone to enjoy.

 “We have just branched out into Bristol, offering a directory of reputable tradesmen for people to check, so we’re really looking forward to coming along and meeting people.”

 Since the first Downend Firework Show in 1971 the Round Table has raised more than half a million pounds which has been plowed back into the community.

 Andrew continued: “We have been planning this year’s show for 10 months so we’re really looking forward to it. Skyburst will once again be firing the show and it’s going to be even more spectacular than last year.

 “We’re looking forward to seeing new faces and old!”
