MEET Marc Willetts – the new leader of Staple Hill Salvation Army Band.
Marc has been a member of the band for 40 years and until his appointment as bandmaster was the principal cornet.
Trained as a professional musician, Marc was a member of the RAF band for 25 years before moving across to St Peter's Hospice 16 years ago where he manages their team of volunteers.
He replaces Nathan James who led the band for almost 11 years.
Staple Hill Salvation Army Band takes part in many community events, heading the Remembrance Day march and Armed Forces Day parade when held in Page Park, as well as playing each Sunday for their regular services.
The first concert presented by the band under Marc's direction was held on Saturday January 25, and the next one will take place on May 2 at Staple Hill Salvation Army, Broad Street, Bristol BS16 5LN.
