Page Park Bowls proves a winner
A TASTER bowls course at Page Park has proved a huge success with participants going on to play the sport more regularly.
A total of 24 people signed up for the six-week course, hosted by Page Park Bowls Club from the end of April.
Under the tuition of qualified English Bowls Association coaches, players were taught the skills required for the basics of the game.
By the end of the course, they were bowled over by the sport and nearly all of them have signed up to play on a more regular basis.
Don Wilcox, lead coach, said he was delighted by the response.
“We actually had 27 attendees, 24 of whom completed the course. All but two of these have subsequently applied for membership either with us or with clubs closer to home, enabling us to maintain a healthy membership whilst helping, in a small way, other clubs.
“From feedback received it is evident that over half learned of the course from the articles in Downed Voice.”
