Teenager on e-scooter punches man in head
A MAN was punched in the head by a teenager on an e-scooter in Staple Hill.
Police, who described the incident as an unprovoked assault, said the 50-year-old victim was walking on Morley Road at about 9.45pm on May 31, the Spring bank holiday Monday, when he was approached by a man in his late teens on a red electric scooter.
A police spokesperson said: "The offender spoke briefly to the victim before punching him in the head, causing minor injuries."
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or thinks they know the attacker, who was white with ginger hair and wearing a white T-shirt and jogging bottoms, to call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5221 120 437.
Police say they have been dealing with a series of issues of anti-social behaviour involving youths in the Mangotsfield, Lyde Green and Emersons Green areas.
PC James Rochford of the neighbourhood policing team told a meeting of the Downend, Emersons Green and Frenchay community engagement forum on June 15 that officers are currently working with local schools to identify youths involved in low-level offending who could be drawn in to violent crime.
High-visibility patrols have been increased in the area, including more uniformed officers and mounted police.
