CARSONS and Mangotsfield Cricket Club are planning for more success this year after winning their first youth trophy in  25 years in 2016.

The Pomphrey Hill based cricket club run three Saturday teams, one Sunday team and youth teams from under 7s through to Under 17s and are looking for players young and old for the 2017 season.

Andy King, the club youth coordinator and vice chairman, said: "We are very keen to recruit players from reception school year up to Year 12, as well as  dads who played in the past, and anyone who has an interest in playing cricket. We especially would like a new players from school years 7,8,9 and 10 to join the Under 15 and Under 13 squad.”

Andy added:“Last year our Under 11 team were runners up in the Bristol Youth League competition  but won the Bristol Youth League Plate Cup, our first youth team trophy in 25 years.”

The lads followed up this success by winning the DFCA Under 12 Indoor League Plate Trophy with a victory over Stoke Bishop.

Andy puts down some of the success to a new bowling machine that a grant from Emersons Green Town Council provided last summer along with the dedication of all the coaches who volunteer their time.

Indoor cricket training will commence at the end of January and will run up until Easter for adults and youth team players. if you would like information please email Andy (andrewzking@sky.com) for more details.  Club information can also be found on the website www.carsonsmangotsfield.play-cricket.com
