WORK is under way on the new Emersons Green Town Hall, which is due to open next spring.

WORK is under way on the new Emersons Green Town Hall, which is due to open next spring.
The £200,000 building will be a focal point for the growing community. It is sited on land owned by the council behind the Beefeater pub car park off Westerleigh Road.
The town hall will be a venue for meetings and events and provide information for residents on both sides of Emersons Green and in the new Lyde Green development.
A significant part of the money for the single-storey building has come from the New Homes Bonus fund.
Councillor Rich Nicholls, the mayor of Emersons Green, said the project was a significant opportunity for the council.
He performed a turf-cutting ceremony for the building, , watched by project manager and architect Paul Maddox, town council clerk Beverley Ewens and Kim Richings, contract manager from Helm Construction, which is carrying out the building work.
Mr Richings said: “We have been increasingly active across South Gloucestershire and are thrilled to have been appointed by the council to carry out this project.”
